WHY OFON ESSENTIAL GLOBAL FOUNDATION?
OFON ESSENTIAL GLOBAL FOUNDATION is a nonprofit making, non-governmental organization (NGO). Our primary objective is to support public educational institutions with computers and ICT infrastructure across Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria at large. We are poised to bridging the digital divides that plagues public schools. We are convinced that with this initiative, we shall eradicate ICT illiteracy, reduce poverty in Africa, create Jobs for our teaming youth, and prepare African child to compete in the challenging world of information advancement.
This foundation was incorporated in 2020 as a subset of OFONET NIG LTD which has been in similar practice since 2013 till date. With its corporate office located at No 183 Hamza Abdullahi Street Kubwa Abuja. We work in collaboration with several other partners all over the world in making sure that we realize our set objectives. We are also in collaboration with indigenous ICT firms who provides the needed technical support and training.
Besides providing the infrastructure in schools, we also provide ICT based skill acquisition and entrepreneurship training, youth empowerment on designated skill(s), workshops, seminars and mentoring programs to the benefiting schools. It is our hope that this project will birth the like of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Michael Dell etc from Africa; who will pioneer the future of ICT all over the globe.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
There is an urgent need to incorporate the use of ICT in teaching and learning in all public schools in Nigeria. This initiative will give every school child equal opportunity to compete in the modern information technology world. It is proven to be difficult for school children of poor backgrounds and indeed those of the public schools to get access to basic ICT education.
Education in this era cannot be complete as it has become imperative to incorporate ICT to facilitate teaching and learning but out of reach of children of public schools in Nigeria, leading to a very big digital- divide between the rich and the poor in one hand and the public and private schools in the other hand.
OFON ESSENTIAL GLOBAL FOUNDATION, a non-government organization has developed this education technology support system to bridge this digital gap. Bridging this gap, we practically provide the following for free: ICT equipment, professional instructors, furniture, internet connectivity, alternative energy and finally a designed model to sustain all our projects.
Our vision is for all public schools in Nigeria, including those in remote areas to have the opportunity to incorporate ICT for engaging and supporting learning and to actually make education a powerful tool for national development and for our citizens to compete favorably with those of other developed nations.
